Field Trips
Elementary School Field Trips
Throughout the year, elementary students go on field trips in Atyrau that support the curriculum. In the past, students have visited parks, memorials, and various other landmarks around the city.
Grade 5 Almaty Trip
At the end of the school year, Grade 5 spends five days exploring the beautiful history, culture, and geography surrounding Almaty. The purpose of the trip is to build community, build character, and make curricular connections. The trip is organized by a vetted company that enlists guides, drivers, and translators for us. Some of the amazing places we get to visit are the Altyn Emel Nature Reserve, Charyn Canyon, and the Oi-Qaragai Gorge. We stay in some unique places, including a yurt and a treehouse. Just some of the many activities that we do on this trip include hiking, sand sledding, rock climbing, completing a ropes course, swimming, and bonding over campfires. Students come back with lifelong memories and an excitement to begin their journeys as middle schoolers.
Middle School Field Trips
Traditionally the Middle School, comprising Grades 6-8, go on a field trip at the beginning of the year as a bonding opportunity for students and staff. The trip lasts five to seven days and has been rotated between a science-oriented trip to the European Space Station in Belgium, an outdoor education trip to Switzerland, and a trip focused on culture. In 2019 the Middle School traveled to London, where students participated in several theater workshops and saw two West End shows.
This rotation of field trips may change in the future as we look to incorporate more service-based opportunities for our students. However, we plan to continue to offer field trips at the beginning of each year.
