DAIS Student Activities
Activities are an integral part of student life at DAIS. Activities before and after school provide students opportunities to explore new interests and pursue new challenging skill sets.
After-School Activities
DAIS after-school activities affords students the opportunity to develop new interests, refine their skills, and build friendships. DAIS parents and teachers team up to offer a variety of activities covering sports, the arts, and academics. Our school year is divided into four sessions with numerous activities offered in each session.
DAIS Middle School Competitive Sports
The second section of our activity program is designed for students from Grades 5 to 8. Students are invited to try out for the sports teams that play competitive games with other schools in Atyrau. Presently these sports are volleyball and soccer.
Private Classes
In addition to the DAIS after-school activities, which typically run for four to six weeks, students have the opportunity to participate in private sports sponsored by professional coaches and athletes (such as MMA, fitness classes, tennis and swimming).
Dostyk After-School League (DASL)
Students are introduced to the Sports Education Model, where they are responsible for leadership, instruction, assessing, and performing on the field or court. This program allows students to take a leadership role in the program by being scorers, captains, motivators, referees and recorders.
Sports are selected by the students and then played among as teams within set grade-level groupings over the course of four seasons throughout the year.
Main objectives of the program:
- Encourage a positive team environment so DAIS students can experience a competitive league.
- Encourage fair play, and reinforce behaviors that demonstrate respect for all players, coaches, referees, league organizers, and other league contributors.
- Encourage cooperation among team members.
- To do all of the above while having fun!
